thuongSpeaking at the opening of the conference on October 21, Dr. Le Thi Thu Huong, Director of the Institute of Hanoi Studies and International Training at Hanoi Metropolitan University, stated that the conference aims to explore cultural values from the cultural subregions of Thang Long – Hanoi in order to educate the younger generation—the future owners of Hanoi—to develop a love for the city associated with civic responsibility of the Capital’s citizens, contributing to the building of a Cultured, Civilized, and Modern Hanoi worthy of the titles recognized by the world: City for Peace and Creative City.
Dr. Le Thi Thu Huong, Director of the Hanoi Institute of Studies and International Training, delivered a speech at the conference.
thuongThe conference is expected to help affirm the role of the cultural subregions of Thang Long – Hanoi in teaching and research on Hanoi Studies; provide orientations for innovating teaching methods linked to heritage; and build a modern model of Hanoi Studies education that integrates tradition, creativity, and international integration.
thuongThe 50 papers submitted to the conference focused on three main groups of issues: research on the cultural subregions of Thang Long – Hanoi; the current state of teaching Hanoi Studies in connection with cultural subregions; and solutions for preserving, exploiting, and promoting the values of these cultural subregions in education and contemporary life.
thuongAffirming that the conference carries a dual mission—serving both as a forum for academic exchange and as a space for connection and orientation in research, training, and communication on Hanoi Studies—Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Vice President of the University, stated that with its mission as the Capital’s only public university, Hanoi Metropolitan University has been and continues to train high-quality, multidisciplinary human resources to serve the development of the Capital and the country.

thuongThe university always places great emphasis on its unique identity; in both training and research, it consistently aims toward the goals of “Hanoification” and “internationalization.” Hanoi Studies is always regarded as an important subject in the university’s training programs. With the achievements attained over many years, by 2024 the training in Hanoi Studies was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister, recognizing the university’s contributions to education and research in Hanoi Studies. Since the 17th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee, Hanoi Metropolitan University has been implementing Program No. 06 of the Municipal Party Committee, not only teaching Hanoi Studies within the university but also organizing “Hanoi Studies knowledge enhancement” programs for educational administrators and teachers of the Capital at all levels of general education.
